Abelardo De La Espriella e Iván Cepeda son lo mismo: “Un circo”, dice Paloma Valencia
In the final stretch of the presidential campaign, Democratic Center candidate Paloma Valencia launched strong criticisms against rival political sectors during an interview with Néstor Morales on Mañanas Blu. The senator and presidential hopeful asserted that lawyer Abelardo De La Espriella and Iván Cepeda represent “the same thing,” while describing the political landscape as “a circus” based on attacks, hatred, and disinformation. The statements were made during a special Blu Radio program dedicated to interviewing presidential candidates ahead of the elections. Valencia used the platform to defend her campaign, question her opponents, and present herself as the “ethical and responsible” alternative for the country. “There are two paths here”: Paloma Valencia During the conversation, Paloma Valencia stated that Colombia is experiencing a moment of political polarization in which, according to her, there are only two clear alternatives: one based on “order and experience” and another marked by political spectacle and confrontation. “There are two options here, and the country needs to understand this: the paths of the circus, which only lead to deception,” the candidate stated. The Uribista leader maintained that both the Petro movement and sectors close to Abelardo De La Espriella and Iván Cepeda use similar strategies of stigmatization and political confrontation. “Here we have Petro, Abelardo, and Cepeda, which are exactly the same thing: attacks, hatred, destruction,” Valencia expressed. Paloma Valencia compares political strategies Valencia insisted that both sectors share similar political dynamics, especially in the management of social media and media attacks. “At first, I started to feel that they were very similar, but today I can say it calmly, they are identical,” she noted. The candidate even compared figures close to De La Espriella's campaign with well-known influencers and leaders of the Petro movement. “Who does Vincent, Abelardo's advisor, resemble more: Levy Rincón or Rafael Nieto? Who does Bermeo resemble more: Gustavo Bolívar or Andrés Forero?” she asked. According to Valencia, there is a political narrative that seeks to divide and discredit its adversaries through digital campaigns and aggressive messages. She denounces attacks and smear campaigns. Another central theme of the interview was the denunciation of personal and political attacks during the presidential campaign. Paloma Valencia asserted that both she and former President Álvaro Uribe and his family have been victims of smear campaigns. “The attacks they've launched against us have been harsh, the lies they've told, the videos they've filmed in their vehicles,” she stated. The candidate indicated that there have been attempts to unfairly link her to acts of corruption, despite what she considers an “impeccable” political career. “I haven’t changed my ideas or my positions. People can review my life, which has been impeccable. I have no ethical qualms,” she maintained. Valencia also asserted that those who question her today are precisely the ones who should be held accountable for their own political actions. Now radio isn’t just heard, it’s seen!
