They saw communist ideology as an antidote to the pathological social conditions prevailing not only in their own country but also worldwide. They joined the Polish Communist Workers' Party (KPK), founded in December 1918 (from 1925 the KP), out of conviction and belief in the purpose of its struggle. Dr. Mariusz Krzysztofiński from the Rzeszów Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), who specializes in, among other things, the history of the communist movement in interwar Poland, discusses the illegal activities of communists in the Second Polish Republic, which were contrary to Polish law, their legal actions, their attempts to build a Polish Popular Front, and the party's little-known military section.
