Mike Barber's Commercial Beekeeping VLOG: Winter storm Heather is closing in on and the race is on to save the bees. In this episode you will see us doing merges right up until the edge of the cold front in the fight to take as many hives as possible to California to pollinate the almonds. We do the common newspaper merge and what we call a Dirty Merge, piling bees and brood from many colonies into towers to let the bees decide which queen, if any, will reign over them all in this game of thrones. You will also see Uncle Marty grading hives and getting it right, Michelle pinching queens and more of the new guy scraping frames and lifting heavy things. I will do some math and show off my dismal pallet counting skills while discussing the potential I see from yet another hard season full of empty boxes.
