Najam Sethi (Urdu: نجم سیٹھی) is an award winning Pakistani journalist, editor, and media personality, is the editor-in-chief of The Friday Times, a Lahore based political weekly, and previously the editor of Daily Times and Daily Aajkal newspapers. He has been awarded the 2009 Golden Pen of Freedom, the annual press freedom prize of the World Association of Newspapers. ========== Attacks on Ahmadi Mosques in Lahore.According to him the roots of sectarianism lie in: (a) Jamaat-e-Islami sponsored anti-Ahmadi riots in early 1950s; (b) Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's decision to declare Ahmadis as non-Muslims in mid-1970s; and (c) General Zia-ul-Haq's widespread use of sectarian elements for jihad against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan in 1980s.
