After over 400 years of strength, the Joseon Empire faces many issues during the 19th century. A lack of technology leaves the empire open to attack by foreign powers, looking to use Joseon's wealth to perpetuate their own goals. China has gained an increasingly large presence within Korea, and they show no signs of stopping. Worse, Japan has shown that they wish to begin constructing a colonial empire, and Joseon looks like a potential target... However, not all is lost. With the increased ideas brought by Western colonizers, Joseon has a chance to become a major power within the region.
