I was originally interested in chemistry, and when I enrolled in high school, I thought I'd find jobs in analysis, compounding, and the like. However, when I started looking for jobs in my third year, there were none! None at all! I studied analysis at university, and there were only a few places I could get into with a high school diploma, lol. Another reason was that I got pretty far in my club activities, so I missed the job hunting season. Industrial job hunting starts around July, after all. As a result of these factors, I considered university or vocational school instead of a full-time job. I wanted to follow in my parents' footsteps and go to the welfare system, so I went to my high school library and saw a huge display of information about an animal vocational school. I thought, "Oh, animal zookeepers sound fun," and begged my parents to let me go to vocational school, lol. That's how I decided to become a zookeeper, but the reason I decided on biopark was because I'm originally from Kumamoto, but my parents are from Nagasaki, so we used to go to bioparks every time I visited. So I visited bioparks more often than the local Kumamoto zoo, and the zoo I was most familiar with was Biopark rather than the Kumamoto zoo. I decided to get a job because I wanted to be part of creating things and share that sense of freedom I'd felt since I was little, and the joy of seeing animals living freely. Many of my friends at vocational school said that becoming a zookeeper had been their childhood dream, but for me, it was a decision I made when I was deciding on my future in high school!
