Let me start be saying that I had very low expectations at first because it is only rated to split a 10" - 25.4 cm log - but this wood splitter has proven me wrong. It has split just about everything I can throw at it. Every year I cut, split and stack hardwood firewood by hand. It's a lot of work and towards the end I am exhausted and usually decide to rent a wood splitter for a few days. This year I decided to purchase an inexpensive 5 ton electric hydraulic wood splitter from Harbor Freight Central Machinery and I am completely amazed at how well this works. If your considering purchasing an inexpensive log splitter, you cant go wrong. It never runs out of gas, it always starts and you don't have to listen to a noisy engine all day. It's simple and it works great! At the time of this video, the log splitter lists for $299. I used a 20% off coupon which brought the price down to $239. It costs 55/day to rent the smallest log splitter in my area. 3 days rental is $165, so for $74 dollars more than renting, I was able to purchase this and I own it afterwards!. Now I can split firewood at my leisure and I don't have to pay rental fees next year!
