IHS director nominee Mark Cruz testifies at Senate Indian Affairs Committee confirmation Hearing

Mark Cruz (Klamath Tribes), the nominee for director of the Indian Health Service (IHS) answered questions from lawmakers on the ‪@SenateIndianAffairs‬ during his confirmation hearing Wednesday. Cruz currently serves as senior advisor for Native Affairs at ‪@HHS‬ with Sec. ‪@robertfkennedyjrofficial‬. He told senators he would focus on strengthening tribal consultation, improving health care access, and addressing workforce shortages across Indian Country if confirmed. His nomination now moves forward in the Senate confirmation process. IHS provides care to about 2.8 million American Indians and Alaska Natives.
