Binsar Mahadev Temple, Ranikhet The sacred temple of Binsar Mahadev is situated amidst thick pine trees. Along with its divinity and spiritual ambiance, the place is renowned for its unparalleled natural beauty. Binsar Mahadev is said to have been built in the 9th/10th century and has been an important religious site in Uttarakhand for centuries. With idols of Ganesha, Hara Gauri, and Maheshmardini, the temple is known for its architectural art. The idol of Maheshmardini is engraved with texts in 'Nagarlipi', dating back to the 9th century. The temple is believed to have been built by King Pitha in memory of his father Bindu and is also known as the Bindeshwar Temple. Surrounded by forests of pine, cedar, and oak, the temple holds a unique place to visit in the state.
