For more on Olden Era, here's what you need to know:    • HoMM Olden Era RELEASE | What You Need To ...   NOTE on the old interviews regarding the demons being Kreegan or not: Greg Fulton, lead game designer and manual author, said in an interview (not written in any particular game): "I think it is safe to assume all demons in the Jon Van Caneghem era are Kreegans, until a different developer or another game effectively explains otherwise." Firstly, this is quite literally an assumption, not official lore. Then it came with the caveat that any other game or developer can say otherwise. It's the most non-committal statement on whether the demons are Kreegans and the moment a game or dev says the demons aren't Kreegan, they aren't, which has since happened. Jennifer Bullard, designer and storyline writer, said in an interview (also nowhere in the games): "In many ways the Kreegans are the original demons faced in the M&M worlds." This is also a pretty loose line that doesn't commit or even specify the demons (not Kreegan) on Enroth. Kreegans are older than everything. They're the enemy of the original high tech civilization Before Silence. So of course Kreegans are the original demons, but they aren't necessarily the same demons under the ground on Enroth. Besides these 2 quotes, there doesn't seem to be anything else that would lock in the demons in the Chronicles game to being Kreegan. If you hate Hive, that's fine btw.
