The Order of the Brothers of Dobrzyń, also known as the Order of the Knights of Christ, was founded in 1228 by the Prussian bishop Christian and Duke Konrad Mazowiecki. Its goal was to protect the Dobrzyń Land from the invasions of Prussian tribes and to spread Christianity in these areas. The order had few knights, which meant it could not effectively defend itself against attacks and was soon absorbed by the Teutonic Order in 1235. Despite its short history, it played an important role in the process of colonization and christianization of the lands of north-eastern Poland.
