A new service has emerged in the sauna industry, commercializing the less crowded times when saunas are less popular. It may soon become commonplace to hear people say, "I'm going to the sauna during my lunch break." ■ Unlimited Sauna Access At Rembrandt Cabin & Spa Shimbashi, a sauna facility in Shimbashi, Tokyo, people are entering one after another, scanning QR codes with their smartphones. This is actually "FLEXKEY," a service that allows unlimited access to 47 saunas in Tokyo and surrounding areas for a monthly fee of 6490 yen. This facility, which offers two types of saunas, normally charges from 1780 yen for 90 minutes, but you'll break even after just four visits. However, access is limited to "empty times" when saunas are less crowded. These are primarily designated times, such as weekday afternoons, late nights, and early mornings, as specified by each facility.
