Pushpal Banerjee & Atanu Majumdar _____________________________________________ Farewell note to Mr Pradip Karmakar Deputy Station Superintendent Sealdah. As he is set to embark on a new chapter of life, Let us briefly look back at his journey with us, so far: Mr Karmakar Received his appointment on 28/8/1989,following which he completed his training in Dhanbad. His first posting(Oct, 1990), was in Deula as assistant station master. After roughly a year, in Dec 1991, he was transferred to Sealdah where he continued with his service upto 2011. Then, from 2011-2015 he worked in Titagarh; from 2015-2016 in Barrakpur; from 2016 to 2018 in Namkhana; and finally, from 2018 to 2024 again in Sealdah, where he worked as deputy SS upto the last day of his service. Seniors are the becon of light who, through examples, guide the new trainees and staff, in proper navigation of their path ahead. Let us shed light in one of his very important and touching contributions. Deula station, nestled in the quaint village of Magrahat in South 24 Parganas, posed unique challenges due to its remote location. It was a time in the early 1990s, when the station premise was marred by nefarious activities and violence, creating a sense of insecurity among the community. The year 1990 marked the beginning of a transformative journey for Deula station. Beyond his routine duty, Mr Karmakar took upon himself the charge of initiating positive changes within the community. Through his proactive apptoach and collaborative efforts with the local teachers' community and police, he was successful in fostering a safer and more inclusive environment at the station. What is truely remarkable is the speed and efficacy with which he had implemented these changes. Within a span of one year, he not only addressed immediate converns but also revitalized the community spirit by reinstating celebrations like Independence Day and Kali puja. It wouldnt be wrong to say that he breathed life into the area, which was wholly shunned after sunset. His efforts not only improved the station's image but also strengthened the bond between the Indian Railways and the public in a closer tie. Dear sir as u bid farewell to us, always know that your legacy will endure as a becon of inspiration for future generation of trainess and staff. Thank you for being a gentleman beyond 'just' a railway official, and for truely empowering and upholding the banner of the Indian Railways through your service. May your future endeavours be filled with success and satisfaction.
