The Two Witnesses | Revelation 11:3-14 | Pastor Daniel Batarseh

Sunday Service (11/30/25) // Revelation 11:3-14 (ESV) // The Two Witnesses // 1 Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told, “Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there, 2 but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months. 3 And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” 4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. 5 And if anyone would harm them, fire pours from their mouth and consumes their foes. If anyone would harm them, this is how he is doomed to be killed. 6 They have the power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire. 7 And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit[a] will make war on them and conquer them and kill them, 8 and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically[b] is called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified. 9 For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb, 10 and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth. 11 But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here!” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies watched them. 13 And at that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. 14 The second woe has passed; behold, the third woe is soon to come. Footnotes a. 11:7 Or the abyss b. 11:8 Greek spiritually The video discusses the two powerful prophets mentioned in Revelation 11:3-14 who will serve as key witnesses before Christ's return (0:08). The pastor outlines five key aspects of these witnesses: Their Identity (1:28): Though unnamed, these are not symbolic figures but two actual human beings God will use in the end times (5:51). While some speculate they could be Moses and Elijah, or Enoch and Elijah due to their miraculous abilities, the most reasonable interpretation suggests they are unknown servants of Christ (8:20). They are described as "two olive trees and two lampstands" (8:45), a reference to Zechariah 4:1-14, symbolizing individuals empowered by the Holy Spirit to bring life and light to Israel (12:13-12:21). Their Ability (1:36): These prophets will possess extraordinary powers, including the ability to call down fire on their enemies (6:29), shut off rain (6:39), turn water into blood, and strike the earth with plagues (6:42). These abilities are reminiscent of Moses and Elijah, serving to authenticate their ministry as genuine prophets of God amidst widespread deception (20:24-21:20). Their Mortality (1:57): Despite their power, they are mortal. Revelation 11:7-8 details their death at the hands of the beast (26:03), identified as the Antichrist (29:30). Their death will occur only after their testimony is complete, highlighting that their lives are tied to God's purpose for their service (31:07-32:20). Their bodies will lie in the street of "the great city," Jerusalem, which is spiritually likened to Sodom and Egypt (33:38-34:30), reflecting God's judgment on its ungodly nature. Their Indignity (2:16): The world will celebrate their death with global broadcasts, exchanging gifts in what is described as a "satanic Christmas" (38:26-40:22). This widespread rejoicing over the death of God's prophets underscores the intens Their Testimony (2:40) #Revelation #BookofRevelation #BibleStudy #BibleExplained #BiblicalStudies #BibleTeacher #WordOfGod #BiblicalLessons #BibleJournal #BibleReading #BibleStudyCommunity #BibleVerse #prophecy #prophetic #jerusalem Website: https://mbchicago.org FOLLOW US Facebook:   / mbc.chicago   Instagram:   / mbc.chicago   TikTok:   / mbc.chicago   Podcasts: Listen on Apple, Spotify & others TO SUPPORT US Zelle to: [email protected] Web: https://mbchicago.org/give Venmo: https://venmo.com/mbchurch DAF Donations: https://every.org/mbc.chicago PayPal/Credit: https://paypal.com/donate/?hosted_but...
