It features old hymns with more complexity than most current hymns—in addition, it is printed with a system of four shapes that aid the singer in finding the correct notes to sing. The scale used is: Fa Sol La Fa Sol La Mi Fa We sing through the hymn once, using the shapes to aid in cementing the melody into our minds, and then wecsing the hymns as desired by the leader who chose the hymn (page) from "The Sacred Harp." It is glorious stuff.
