We start our Melbourne stroll right away – on the tram! Yes, that very same free Melbourne tram gave me a short ride into the center. Photographing those days wasn't easy – the heat, the Australian Open, and Australia Day! So, it's not so much a portrait of the city as a sketch. And I really liked the city! Not least because there are many parallels between it and St. Petersburg. It's a young city; a port city; it stands on a large and very beautiful river that sometimes overflows its banks; it was built according to a plan, "from above," and has preserved its original street grid in the center; it boasts impressive 19th-century architecture; it was the capital more than 100 years ago and retains its title as the country's "cultural capital." We'll stroll through festive streets, peek into beautiful shopping arcades, see the city hall and the famous Flinders Street station, watch tennis at Federation Square, and stroll along the Yarra embankments. We'll discover the city's most famous graffiti and murals and visit AC/DC Lane. In Fitzroy Gardens, we'll discover James Cook's famous cottage, take a drive along the Formula 1 track, and find ourselves on the oceanfront next to the continent's most expensive changing cabins...
