ILMEA Set 1, French Horn: Etude # 71 – Allegro moderato by Paudert (Jena Gardner)

In this video, Dr. Jena Gardner shares practice tips for students preparing their ILMEA set 1 audition music, "Paudert, Etude #71 Allegro Moderato". The video also includes a complete performance for students to practice or play along with. When you perform etude number 71 by Paudert, the audition judges will be listening for accurate rhythm, dynamic contrasts, and clear articulation. To perform your best on this longer etude, try the following practice strategies: 1. Divide the entire etude into sections defined by the triplet or 16th note subdivision. 2. Practice each section slowly and work them up to a consistent tempo that you can play throughout. Aim for a goal of 84-90 BPM. 3. Finally, practice the middle section without the turns, then work them in to sound like this: Take a listen and feel free to play along as I play etude number 71, Allegro Moderato by Paudert! Students can get a free mini-lesson by messaging Dr. Gardner through   / wiuhorn   or via email. For more information on the Western Illinois University Horn Studio visit http://www.wiu.edu/horn
