This video is for those planning to purchase an older Freed+ (i-DCD) hybrid vehicle or those who already own this hybrid vehicle and are unaware of the "EV-less disease." After driving the Freed+ for four months, I felt a sense of discomfort, wondering if hybrid vehicles really don't offer such good fuel economy. It was a stark contrast to my pre-purchase impression. I thought a hybrid vehicle would save me 30 liters of fuel even when I drove it at high speeds, but it's not much different from my previous Note. Well, I could sleep in the car and there are benefits, so maybe it's okay. I was about to give up, but then I saw a YouTuber's video. When I saw the image, It said that the Freed HV is a very volatile vehicle, and that in order to improve fuel economy, I had to drive in a quirky manner. I was shocked by the harsh comment that simply driving aimlessly won't improve fuel economy. Don't think you can improve fuel economy just by leaving it up to the car's systems... Ugh... Apparently, only Toyota HVs can do that. But let's not get discouraged, and think positively. It seems that fuel economy can be improved by making some driving adjustments. I thought I'd give it a try, and I did. I was able to intentionally switch to EV mode. Without relying on the Freed's system... I'm introducing one method. To be honest, road conditions and traffic congestion often prevent me from driving as I want. I'm trying out the EV switching mode when there are few cars, when driving at night, and when the highway is not congested. In urban areas, I mainly drive at low speeds, but this method can also be used on the highway. I've been able to drive in EV mode even at 80 km/h. It requires delicate throttle control, but there are some dedicated drivers who find it fun. Freed EV enthusiasts This is how they overcome their refusal to switch to EV mode. They seem to be the kind of people who like to come up with their own ingenuity, like "Doing this improves fuel efficiency." Kotaro also drives, and he's still experimenting with ways to put the car into EV mode. Of course, checking the road ahead and driving safely are always top priorities, but... The bonus story about the ETC lady is just a joke. There are quite a few other strange things about the Freed, but I don't have time to go into them all, so I'll share them when I have time. To give a simple example, The driver's door creaks every time I first sit down and close it. The sound comes from the pocket that you pull to close the door. Crack! It makes a sound like plastic breaking. It's so annoying. Also, after I finish driving and apply the handbrake, and finally take my foot off the brake, the car starts moving. It's scary, isn't it? I feel like the car is going to move. I've never experienced this in any Nissan or Toyota I've driven before. Also, The navigation system is the worst I've ever experienced. Also, When I start driving, the navigation system starts up, but the "preparing" screen stays on for a long time before the actual navigation system appears. It's frustrating when I'm in a hurry. I think it's probably loading computer data. Despite all that, I love my Freed.
