Thank you to everyone who watched! Let me add a few points about this video. I mentioned that the phenomenon of adjective inflectional endings being reanalyzed to create grammatical forms, like "kunai," is not uncommon in the evolution of the Japanese language, and gave the example of "keredomo" in the central dialect. However, similar examples can also be seen in dialects. In Tohoku dialects, "de-inflection" of adjectives is progressing, and the forms created by changing inflectional endings in standard Japanese also include the terminal form. As a result, the part corresponding to the inflectional ending and everything after it is treated like an affix. Let's look at some examples from the Akita dialect. [Standard Japanese] [Akita Dialect] Cold sanbi [sanbi] Not cold sanbigu/ne →[sanbi]gune Was cold sanbigatta [sanbi]gatta So cold sanbiku/te [sanbi]kute In some dialects, the part corresponding to the conjugational ending and the following word become independent, and in the Akita dialect, expressions like "yandakute [unpleasant]" (where "kute" is added to an adjectival noun) are seen. In the Okitama region of Yamagata Prefecture (Yonezawa, etc.), this change has given rise to expressions like the following: ・Is that (broken) speaker now working? ・I used to drink a lot of sake. [Past habit] ・I was about to drink it. [Past Non-Actualization] Here, a form derived from the ending of an adjective is used in a verb. "Nomu gatta" (drank) can also be expressed as "was drinking" in standard Japanese, so it functions as a stative predicate, similar to an adjective. I omitted this to keep the flow of the discussion smooth, but I kept the above points in mind. This is why the references related to "Chigaku nai?" (Isn't it?) and "Chigau kunai?" (Isn't it?) include works dealing with Tohoku dialects. Please continue to enjoy the video! [References] ■Related to "Chigaku nai?"
