Watchmen of the Narrow Way

1 John 4:1 " Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." On the road of a thousand voices Silver tongues in robes of white Selling crowns made out of shadows Calling darkness holy light In the valley stands a merchant Trading truth for dust and gold Every promise shines like diamonds Till the hidden fangs unfold Far beyond the burning horizon Ancient echoes ride the wind "See that no one leads you captive" Hear the warning rise again Eyes of fire Hearts awake Not every banner bears His name Watchmen! Standing on the narrow road Watchmen! Guard the treasure of your soul Wolves are moving through the moonlight Masks of angels, hearts of stone Watchmen! Test the spirits Hold the truth And walk on In the courts of proud deceivers Golden idols touch the sky Smooth as rivers flow their speeches Yet beneath them kingdoms die Every age has known the serpent Every age has heard the call Many stumble chasing wonders While the faithful hear it all Prudent eyes can see the danger Long before the thunder breaks Fools run laughing toward destruction Wise men learn from old mistakes Shining armor Painted lies Not every light descends from Heaven Watchmen! Standing on the narrow road Watchmen! Guard the treasure of your soul Wolves are moving through the moonlight Masks of angels, hearts of stone Watchmen! Test the spirits Hold the truth And walk on The dragon whispers The kingdoms tremble The nations wander in the night But far above the storm and chaos Still burns the everlasting Light Test all things Hold what is good Stand your ground Like the ancient ones stood Watchmen! Raise your voices to the King Watchmen! Hear the bells of warning ring Many roads are wide before us Only one leads safely home Watchmen! Test the spirits Hold the truth Christ alone Through the shadows Through the lies Through the kingdoms built on sand The Shepherd calls The wise arise And follow where He stands.
