Fife Trip Elie chain walk, Ruby Bay, Newark Castle, St Monans Auld Kirk

The Elie Chainwalk is one of Scotland’s best-kept coastal secrets. To call it a walk is not strictly accurate; it is more of a scramble, requiring a healthy spirit of adventure, a good measure of agility and a strong head for heights. Ruby Bay, This glorious beach is sheltered and sandy, located to the east of the village of Elie Newark Castle is a ruin located just west of St Monans, on the east coast of Fife, Scotland. The building, built in the 15th century, stands in a dramatic location, overlooking the North Sea. The upper storeys are ruinous, but vaulted cellars survive, hidden from view. St Monans Auld Kirk One of the oldest churches in Scotland, St Monans is believed to have been built in 1256. But, after falling into disuse, it was rebuilt by King David I as a thank you to God following passage through a nasty storm. Surrounded by cliffs, it’s still used by worshippers today.
