Aysgarth Falls Circular Walk | Yorkshire Dales National Park

A 2¾-mile (1 1/2 hours) circular walk starting at Agartha Falls National Park Visitor Centre, through Freeholders Wood, and circles back through the countryside. Chapters: 0:00 - 0:10 car park & maps 0:10 - 0:27 Enter Woodland 0:27 - 1:04 Middle Falls 1:04 - 1:32 Freeholders Wood 1:32 - 2:35 Lower Falls 2:35 - 3:38 To Hollins House 3:38 - 4:23 Accessible path return point 4:23 - 4:33 Circle back to Aysgarth Falls 4:33 - 5:20 Ground-nesting Birds 5:20 - 5:50 Follow the track towards Carperby 5:50 - 6:22 Lambs 6:22 - 6:54 Return through fields to woodland 6:54 - 7:21 Bluebells 7:21 - 7:42 Return to car park (This walk doesn't include the upper falls, however, when you return back to the car park the upper falls are just a short walk out of the opposite end of the car park, up river, and are well worth a visit.) A slight adaptation to this walk is the Miles without Stiles accessible walk through Freeholders Wood, which follows Aysgarth Falls waterfalls (skipping the lower falls) and circles back through the countryside. Sheep can be found in the surrounding fields as well as red-listed ground-nesting birds such as curlew - these fields are privately owned by local farmers and landowners, so please keep to the footpath to avoid any unnecessary disturbance to the Wildlife and farm animals. Be water aware** The water can be extremely cold, deceptively deep (even when it looks low) and difficult to get out of because of the strong currents - due to the limestone formation of the waterfalls.
