ECONOMICS: The Department of Economics is one of the largest departments of this university. The Department of Economics started its journey from 1987-88 sessions along with only 50 students. This department's faculties are highly qualified, technology-concerned, progressive, and friendly. At present, 13 teachers are engaged in providing quality education to around 375 (Undergraduate-300 & Post Graduate-75) students in diversified areas. There are 4 classrooms, one Seminar Library, and a Nice Computer Lab in the department. Each classroom has adequate furniture along with Multi-media Projector facilities. In terms of every aspect, the classrooms are scientific and up-to-date. PUBLIC_ADMINISTRATION: Public Administration is one of the leading departments of the Islamic University. Since its establishment, the department has been conducting undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs and offering 4-year undergraduate program BSS (Honours), 1-year Master's Program (MSS), M.Phil, and Ph.D degrees with much reputation. The department has a high-profile curriculum and is updated regularly enough to address the recent national and international issues concerned. Students are required to take the core courses like Public Administration, Public Management, Personnel and Human Resources Management, Comparative Public Administration, Financial Administration, Development Administration, Organization Behavior, Sociology, etc. Beyond these, there are several applied courses such as Statistics and Research Methodology, Computer Application, Project Management, Administrative Systems Analysis, and Public Policy. Since the 2017-2018 academic session, the department has been following the semester system in conducting the courses and taking the examinations. The medium of instruction of this department is in English. At present the department has 12 full-time faculty members. The faculty members have very good academic and research track records. The faculty members incessantly work together to contribute to the public interest through high-quality and ethical teaching, research, and capacity building. The total number of students is about 468 in undergraduate and Master’s level, 06 in M.Phil, and 02 in Ph.D. programs. POLITICAL_SCIENCE: In the year 1990 the Department of Politics and Public Administration was opened in the Islamic university, Kushtia. Since then it has offered courses on various aspects of the subjects with much reputation, and there, it could claim to have obtained a prestigious status among other teaching departments of the University. Having been bifurcated from the mainstream, the Department of Political Science as a separate academic discipline came into being in 2015 under the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. FOLKLORE_STUDIES: folklore to learn and explore our own traditions, cultures, and other cultures to become well equipped for understanding how our cultural practices and identities are produced, circulated, and changed. The Department of Folklore Studies (DFS) studies intercultural communication and artistic practices in the global and digital society through a pragmatically interdisciplinary approach in which anthropology, cultural studies, sociolinguistics, history, political sciences, aesthetics, and ethical perspectives are integrated. We offer Bachelor of Social Science (Hons), Master of Social Science, MPhil, and Ph.D. degrees to students and research scholars to transform them into culturally galvanized and socially globalized humans through theory and practices. DEVELOPMENT_STUDIES: The Department of Development Studies at Islamic University, Kushtia -7003 was established on 3rd October 2017 with a view to providing dynamic and innovative teaching on Development Studies as well as fostering quality research on the Development-related problems of different countries and regions in general and Bangladesh in particular. The aim of the Department is to establish itself as a center of excellence in the field of Development through high-quality teaching, original research works, capacity-building efforts, and development of qualified human resources to promote development for Bangladesh in particular and also for the developing as well as the under-developed countries of the world in general. SOCIAL_WELFARE: The Department of Social Welfare at Islamic University is a new academic discipline founded in the year 2018. The Department aims to create competent human capital by developing trained professional social workers who can serve the societal and corporate needs of both national and international communities with efficiency and success. COMMUNICATION AND MULTIMEDIA JOURNALISM: CMJ was established in 2022. This Department has 30 seats per year. now it has 3 batches and almost 90 students and two teachers also two staff. PHYSICAL EDUCATION & SPORTS SCIENCE: This department was established in 2022. now it has three batches.
