Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme, also known as PMSSS 2026 is a pivotal opportunity extended by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the students of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. This initiative aims to provide vital financial support to the talented youth of these regions, enabling them to pursue higher education and acquire the necessary skills to excel in their chosen fields.  The inception of the PMSSS scholarship can be traced back to the year 2010 when an expert group, constituted by the Prime Minister, recognised the need to enhance employment opportunities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. This expert panel formulated a job plan that involved both the public and private sectors. One of the key recommendations that emerged from their deliberations was the introduction of 5000 fresh scholarships annually.
