This is song from the pre-ottoman invasion medieval tradition of Albanian speaking communities of Italy. During the ottoman invasion of the Balkans, a wave of Albanian immigrants from Albania and Albanian populated areas of today's Greece, crossed the Adriatic Sea and settled in the regions of Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia, Campania and Molise in Italy.
