She debuted in 2007 with the piano and vocal album "Omi." She has written theme songs for director Nobuhiko Obayashi's "Tenkousei: Goodbye, You" and director Momoko Ando's "0.5mm," as well as composed music for commercials (KDDI, MUJI, and others). She also writes numerous newspaper and web serials, not just in music. In addition to presenting original works, he has also made it his life's work to unearth and rearrange ancient folk songs buried in the earth. He wrote the "Exploring Prewar Music" column for Music Magazine for six years. He has been invited to participate in art projects across Japan, including "Sumida River Raging Waves" in the East Tokyo area (2021), "Modern Regional Tales" in Kochi and Susaki (2022), and "SENSEISLAND/LAND" in Yokosuka (2024), where he has conducted research and engaged in creative activities. He has also performed at the Naadam National Festival in Mongolia and collaborated with the National Orchestra of Honduras. In 2024, he performed a live painting with Ryoji Arai at Arts Maebashi Gallery 6. For the "Nash Arakawa Paintings Are Popstars" exhibition at the National Art Center, Tokyo, he created a new piece, "Three Scenes of Micronesia," in response to Shun Maruki's paintings, and presented it as an installation that echoed the exhibition. In 2025, she participated in Masakatsu Takagi's album "Uta no Jikan" (Time of Songs) as a lyricist, arranger, and performer. Her performance at Fuji Rock's "ORANGE ECHO" stage, where she began singing "Asia no Sweat," also garnered attention. She has long hosted the "Ring Ring Festival," a music event supporting the "Big Issue," at Baisoin Temple in Aoyama. Since its 11th event, it has been held at Tamahime Park in Sanya, marking its 12th anniversary in 2025. She has also teamed up with author Erika Kobayashi to create musical reading plays that revive the voices of women lost to history, along with music from that time. These include "Girls Spinning and Weaving," a story about female factory workers, and "Girls Making Balloon Bombs," a story about female students mobilized for weapons manufacturing. Her song "Magical Like a Woman" was chosen as the theme song for the NHK documentary "Dear Nippon," and is also featured in the textbook "High School Music I." She continues to perform in the three-piece band "Winter Divorce" with Reizaburo Adachi and Wataru Iga. Her latest book is "Exploring Prewar Music" (Music Magazine). She has also published a series of essay collections, including "Around Music" and "My Rebellious Period," which she edits herself by inviting acquaintances such as musicians, poets, and editors. Her latest music album is "My Favorite Labor Songs." Her previous albums, "Melody in the Margins" (2022) and "Shoo Shine" (2024), were both selected as one of the top 10 albums of the year (Rock/Japan category) by Music Magazine.
