Autostradą przez Francje - Télépéage działa 😎 Fastned Plug&Charge ⚡

Paris, Le Mans, the Alps, and an electronic toll gate test – the second day of our trip to France and onward to Spain! After breakfast, I charge my Tesla to 100% and compare charging times with a cold battery. I also use the electronic toll collection system (télépéage) for the first time – no tickets, the toll gate opens automatically. We also test Fastned with AutoCharge/Plug&Charge and compare costs with Superchargers. Along the way, we stop near Paris CDG Airport, where we drive through a very low tunnel, then experience a storm and spectacular clouds high in the Alps. We end up at a hotel in France – with a smile, but also with a few adventures along the way. ⚡ Charging and SOC – Start: 60% → 100% with a cold battery took ~50 minutes; the day before, estimated ~40 minutes with a warmer battery. The temperature difference makes a huge difference, especially above 80% SOC. – Strategy: I ultimately wanted to arrive in two stops, with a 20% buffer at the end (be careful with unfamiliar infrastructure). 🛣️ Télépéage – electronic toll booths in France – Enter the appropriate lane and… boom! Green, we're off without stopping. The device wakes up ~100 meters before the toll booth and identifies the vehicle as it passes. Comfort and smoothness, no stress with tickets or the ticket window. 🔌 Fastned AutoCharge / Plug&Charge – First test: I plug in the plug, and charging starts after the car is identified. – The price displayed on-site is ~0.59€/kWh – usually more expensive than local Superchargers in France (cheaper electricity), but we're paying for convenience and location. For me, this is a benchmark UX experience outside the Tesla network. ☕ Pit-stop and food – Quick coffee at an automated Starbucks. – We also stop at a French fast food restaurant with reusable packaging – the cups, trays, and containers are returned to the collection points. Cool, eco-friendly, and… tasty. – Then, there's a problem with the internet: Switzerland outside the EU = no convenient roaming. Rescue: Wi-Fi and offline maps, because CarPlay can clear the route upon connection. ✈️ Paris CDG and a very low tunnel – Passing under the runway at Charles de Gaulle Airport – the airport to the left and right, and we're in a tunnel with a height limit of about 2 meters. The atmosphere is like being in a spaceship. ⛰️ The Alps, wind, and… a show in the sky – Climbing high: the temperature drops from ~29°C to ~20°C. Scudding clouds, a wind orchestra, mountain views, and tight switchbacks. An incredible visual and audio experience. 💙TwitterX ►   / paitzone   📧 Business contact: ► [email protected]
