Special Sergeant makes history as first volunteer to carry Taser in West Midlands

Acting Special Sergeant Ryan Courtney has become the first volunteer police officer in West Midlands Police history trained to use a Taser. Super specials like Ryan work alongside our paid police officers, responding to a wide range of incidents, from domestic disturbances to road collisions and burglaries. They play a vital role in keeping communities safe. Ryan has also had the privilege of participating in major policing operations, including the Commonwealth Games and the Queen’s funeral.
