Hidden Island Hotel with a Long History and Unexpected Modern Flavors
Hotel Washington is the crown jewel of Washington Island off of Door County. Owner Jeannie Kokes has made a concerted effort to rejuvenate the island by focusing on the local food. Chef Matt Poole and Amanda Ebenhoeh, who were brought into the hotel to reimagine dining by utilizing food from the island. Jeanne has also made the investment into local farms, Hoot Blossom and Folk Tree farms, bringing young farmers to the island to help produce food for the Hotel and other local restaurants. Host Luke Zahm travels Death's Door to the island to get a taste of what Jeanne and her team has been cooking.
