In this video, we show how easy it is to replace the hydraulic tappets on GM 8V engines without removing the cylinder head, using a specific, low-cost tool. Without this tool, tappets can only be replaced by removing the cylinder head. This requires replacing the head gasket. A cylinder head planer is recommended, along with an oil change (which is contaminated with water during disassembly), a coolant change, which is also lost during the process, and a replacement of the cylinder head bolt kit (10 units).
