2017 Nissan Rogue Vapor Canister Purge Valve Solenoid Replacement (2014-2020)

In this video, I'm showing you how to replace or change the Vapor Canister Solenoid Valve on this 2017 Nissan Rogue 2.5L SV. Symptoms of a failing EVAP purge solenoid often include a lit Check Engine Light, rough idling, poor fuel economy, difficulty starting (especially after refueling), stalling, sluggish engine performance, and sometimes a fuel smell, all stemming from disrupted air/fuel mixtures or vacuum leaks caused by a stuck valve. What Happens The purge solenoid controls the flow of fuel vapors from the gas tank. Sending them to the engine, to be burned. When it fails (often stuck open or closed), it disrupts the engine's air/fuel balance, causing these symptoms. Common Symptoms Check Engine Light (CEL): This is often the first sign, triggered by trouble codes related to the evaporative emissions system (like P0441, P0442, P0446). Rough Idle/Sputtering: A valve stuck open can create a vacuum leak, letting in unmetered air, disrupting the air/fuel ratio and causing the engine to run rough or hesitate. Hard Starting: Excess fuel vapors entering the engine can flood it, making it hard to start, especially right after filling up. Poor Fuel Economy: A malfunctioning purge valve constantly pulls fuel vapors into the engine, leading to decreased gas mileage. Sluggish Performance/Hesitation: The altered air/fuel mix can make the car feel less responsive or sluggish. Fuel Smell: Leaking fuel vapors can sometimes be smelled inside or around the vehicle. Stalling: A severe vacuum leak or rich condition can cause the engine to stall. Failed Emissions Test: Increased hydrocarbon emissions from the faulty system can lead to failing an emissions test. Collapsed Fuel Tank: While less common, a faulty vent valve (related to the system) can sometimes cause pressure issues.
