The cherry blossoms of Mount Yoshino in Nara Prefecture have been cherished for approximately 1,300 years. Their breathtaking scenery is so magnificent that it's said to be "a thousand trees at a glance." Around 30,000 trees of about 200 varieties, including the white mountain cherry, bloom across the mountainside. Protecting and nurturing these cherry trees are the "cherry blossom guardians," just three people managing approximately 20,000 trees. However, the cherry blossoms of Mount Yoshino are now facing a crisis. If no action is taken during the winter, the damage will spread, and there is a risk that the spectacular scenery may disappear in the future… We followed the cherry blossom guardians as they strive for the next 100 years.
