Three Christian content creators in Cuba received summonses from Cuban State Security on July 1, 2026, in what journalist Alex Otaola described as an intimidation tactic by the regime against independent voices exercising their freedom of expression based on faith. The YouTuber known as Anna Bensi, the journalist Pregonero de Cristo (Christ's Proclaimer), and the members of the Fuera de la Caja (Outside the Box) channel were summoned to the Alamar police station at 10:00 a.m. that same day. Otaola noted that the summonses arrived with a poorly drafted document containing obvious date errors: the document indicated June 2 instead of July 1, which, in his opinion, reveals the level of disorganization and arrogance with which the regime operates these mechanisms of repression. The journalist emphasized that this type of summons is not new. Cuban authorities have historically used so-called official warnings to silence independent journalists, activists, and now also digital creators. According to reports, the summonses were issued in response to the digital activism of these young people, who document Cuban reality from a Christian perspective, without violence or offensive language, simply exercising their right to free expression. Otaola publicly praised Anaveni's courage, calling her an educated, religious, and brave young woman, as well as that of the siblings from Fuera de la Caja, Betti and Abel, emphasizing that they are part of the generation that will build the free Cuba of the future. In his view, the dictatorship resorts to these tactics precisely because it fears the growing influence of these creators in Cuban society, both on the island and in the diaspora. Experts in freedom of expression have warned that the summonses of content creators represent an escalation in the regime's digital repression.
