Psalm 34, David's prayer for protection from enemies. What is allegorically called the shield, armor, and sword of God? David prays to God for retribution against his visible enemies, that they may suffer what they have planned, while a Christian should pray for protection from invisible enemies—demons. David depicts the full malice of his enemies: they plot his destruction, bear false witness, gloat, mock, wink at each other, conspire in a wicked conspiracy, and dissemble. David, however, treated them as a friend, a brother. But he hopes that the Lord will not be "silent" for long and will judge fairly, for which David will glorify God in a large assembly. But David's enemies resemble the enemies of Christ. Can the psalm really be applied to Jesus Christ?
