A história da Huawei - TecMundo
Hey there, TecMundo folks, how's it going? Our history of technology continues with the story of a Chinese company that many people don't know, but which almost out of nowhere became one of the world's largest telecommunications companies. It's Huawei, which has many fans in the West and, we can already tell you, is also quite controversial. Want to know how it grew and why so many people find it suspicious? Then join us in the history of Huawei. The story begins a little differently from others. This is because Huawei began in 1987 in Shenzhen, a little later than other companies in the industry and by an executive who was already over 40 years old. Ren Zhengfei was a military technology engineer in the People's Liberation Army, the armed wing of communist China. The name has several meanings. "Hua" can mean China, magnificent, or flower, which explains the logo. "Hei" means conquest or action. So the name is something like "China is acting" or "conquering magnificently." To fully explain this origin, we need to understand China's situation at the time. In the late 1970s, Mao Zedong died, and the People's Republic of China, which had been controlled by the Communist Party, ended up under the leadership of Deng Xiaoping. During this transitional period, China was isolated from the rest of the world, and under the new government, it opened up economically, culturally, and technologically. This new period still sees strong state control, but it also welcomes foreign capital. This leads to the emergence of several companies from a wide range of sectors, both to serve the domestic market and the rest of the world.
