Exploring The Remains Of An Abandoned Ames. Enjoy an exclusive look at another Ames survivor that we found! Many thanks to a personal friend of mine, for tipping me off about this location. While part of the building has since been repurposed and now serves a few operational businesses, the walls that cut off the rest of the Ames have left what's still here in good shape and stuck in 2002 when they closed. Ames as a whole filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2002 and closed all of their locations very quickly. In one of our other Ames explorations, pallets of merchandise still sit in the backroom that never sold due to how fast the company liquidated all assets. It was unbelievable how generally clean this location was and how many signs were still intact. As urban explorers, we explore with respect and just like to take a walk down memory lane... especially for me as I grew up with Ames. We take nothing, leave nothing, but footprints. We do not condone vandalism. We leave the places we explore the same way as we found them.
