Salt Rock to Thompsons Bay Walk… Then THIS Happened

We set out on a coastal walk from Salt Rock Beach to Thompsons Bay in Ballito, exploring some of the beautiful spots along South Africa’s Dolphin Coast… but the day didn’t quite go as expected. Along the way, we passed beaches, tidal rock pools and hidden spots, including Thompsons Beach and the iconic Hole in the Wall near Thompson's Bay. We also stopped for a swim in the Thompson Bay Rock Pool before heading back. Just as we were making our way back, we came across an unexpected fire near the car park and had to call the fire brigade. We stayed on scene while they arrived and brought the situation under control. After the excitement, we continued along Ocean Drive, made our way back toward Salt Rock Beach via Chaka’s Rock tidal pool, and ended the day with a well-earned seafood lunch at Polipetto Seafood Restaurant, fresh prawns with a sea view.
