This Contemporary Thai Home Replaces Private Rooms with Fluid Shared Spaces

Explore the stunning Terrace House in Chiang Mai, Thailand—a 285-square-meter contemporary residence that redefines the concept of a "family home." Designed by S.O.S Architects for a minimalist household of two people and their dog, this project moves away from traditional multi-room layouts to focus on fluid, shared living spaces. At the heart of the home is a generous, elevated upper terrace that serves as the primary gathering zone, embracing the local climate and creating a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors. Architect Chaikla Dangboon utilized a palette of raw concrete and warm wood interiors, accented by extensive glazing and thoughtful lighting to create a modern tropical sanctuary.
