The trail climbs through forest, passes through Kachina Peaks Wilderness, and follows switchbacks to a rocky summit ridge above treeline. Start early since parking fills fast. Altitude is real here, bring layers for variable weather, and turn around if storms appear. The second half gets steep with false summits and exposed terrain. Plan for a full day and respect closure areas sacred to local tribes. 00:00 Getting to the Hike 00:30 Hike Details 00:57 Hike Prep 01:21 Turn-by-Turn Directions 04:32 Ancient Volcano --- Disclaimer: Some of these links are affiliate links where I'll earn a small commission if you make a purchase at no additional cost to you.
