Cómo plantar un árbol de pistachos / Trabajos a tener en cuenta cuando se inicia una plantación 🌳

Taking advantage of a plant delivery to a client, I decided to make this video to show some tasks to take into account to reduce the percentage of losses. We are on the right date for planting, as the soil is moist from the previous days' rains, the days are shorter, and we have a lot of fog. These factors keep the soil moist and conditioned so the plants can grow optimally. The plant we are going to plant in the field is UCB1. UCB1 is a hybrid rootstock, meaning it was developed with pollen from the male Pistacia intergerrima and a female Pistacia atlantica. These seeds give rise to UCB1. As we can see, the 3.5L container allows us to save on fertilizer and substrate when planting, simply because the pot contains 3.5L of substrate, and the root core will be in contact with this substrate for a long time. This way, the plant will be better nourished once we have placed it in the field. It is essential that once it is placed in the field, the root core or root ball is very well compacted with soil. Why? Because if we leave air chambers between the root core and the soil, when the root begins to emerge from the root ball to anchor itself to the soil, these air chambers prevent this from happening. Therefore, we may lose the plant because the root is no longer anchored to the soil. Since it's a very expensive plant, we really can't allow this to happen. Therefore, the work we must do is very simple: once it's planted, we or any employee must come and press the plant firmly into the soil. This will compact it with the soil, and as soon as the root begins to emerge from the core, it can be easily anchored to the ground. Other work we must keep in mind is that if the weather is not favorable, we should consider applying a settling irrigation. This will keep the root core moist and prevent the plant from becoming stressed. We must keep in mind that the plant that leaves the nursery has been very well cared for and hasn't lacked anything. Therefore, if the soil is loose and lacks moisture, the plant may be stressed and not develop as it should. I hope this has been helpful and I'd like to say that we'll be monitoring this plant closely given its thickness. We'll try to graft it in spring to take advantage of the plant's peak growth cycle for graft development, thus shortening the juvenile period. Best regards, and thank you very much!
