The age-old wealth that we have always known how to take advantage of faces new challenges, and innovation and diversified applications have been key factors for continuity. President of APCOR - the Portuguese Cork Association since 2012, he is a Chemical Engineer graduated from the University of Aveiro and specialized at DTU - the Technical University of Denmark. It was at the Porto Business School (now Porto Business School) that he completed his postgraduate studies in Quantitative Management Methods and began a different path in his career, which has always been linked to the company Waldemar Fernandes da Silva, SA, where he is currently CEO. He views his mission at APCOR as a huge challenge, and during this period the sector has achieved unprecedented global recognition, being very close to reaching one billion euros in exports. As motivated as on the day he was first elected, he feels privileged to be able to contribute to strengthening Portugal's image in the world through cork, which protects a unique ecosystem globally and is an example of the circular economy model.
