From the size of the cities and cars to the way Europeans handle bathrooms, food, water, money, and public transportation, there is SO much that separates these two very different parts of the world. As someone who grew up in Dallas, Texas, and has been traveling and living in Europe, I'm giving you my full American reaction to Europe vs USA — and trust me, this one does not disappoint. Whether you already know a lot about European culture or you're just starting to discover the differences between Europe and America, this video breaks it all down in the most entertaining and honest way possible. I'm reacting alongside the video, sharing my own personal experiences, and adding context from actually being here on the ground in Europe. This is what an authentic American reaction to Europe looks like! Here's everything we cover in this video: 🏙️ Size — Europe was built centuries ago for pedestrians and horses, not gas guzzling pickup trucks. The cities are compact and walkable, the cars are tiny, the food portions are smaller, and even the elevators feel like coffins. Meanwhile in Texas, you can drive 13 hours and still be in the same state. The size comparison between the US and Europe on a map is genuinely mind blowing. 🚽 Bathrooms — This is the one that every American traveler needs to hear before they visit Europe. Bathrooms are not free, toilet paper is not guaranteed, and toilet seats are not always a given. Consider yourself warned. 🍕 Food — European food has no preservatives, which sounds great until you realize your Big Mac has an expiration date. They even have a Nutri-Score system in some countries to tell you exactly how unhealthy your food is. Meanwhile in America, we have Wonder Bread and Cheese Whiz and we are perfectly happy about it. 💧 Water — Water is not free in European restaurants. You will be asked still or sparkling, and you will pay for it either way. Also, the water bottle caps are attached now and Europeans apparently hate it. I think it's genius. 🏛️ Age — Europe has palaces, castles, and ancient ruins that are thousands of years old. America has ruins too — Detroit, St. Louis, Baltimore. We're working on it. 💶 Money — The euro, taxes, tipping culture, coins that are actually useful, and the cost of living across different European countries. Norway will drain your wallet. Portugal will save it. And if you don't tip your waiter in America, you are going to have a very bad time on your next visit. 🚇 Public Transportation — Europe has metros, high speed rail, and clean stations that put America to shame. Europe's fastest train hits nearly 250 mph. America's fastest train tops out at 150 mph. And in most of the US, public transportation basically doesn't exist outside of New York and Chicago. 🚬 Smoking and Alcohol — Everyone in Europe smokes everywhere and nobody bats an eye. The drinking age is 18 and even that feels optional. In America, they're still carding my middle aged parents at restaurants. 🗣️ Languages — Europeans are multilingual by necessity. In Belgium and Switzerland alone, people speak multiple languages depending on what region they're in. In America, 78% of us speak only English. And the three exceptions to that rule? I explain them in the video. 📏 Systems — Metric vs imperial. Celsius vs Fahrenheit. Ground floor vs first floor. America is the last holdout on the imperial system and honestly, I still can't fully explain why. Water freezes at 32°F. Why?
