SPIDER-MAN : The Ballad of Mary Jane (a fan film by Chris .R. Notarile)

CHECK OUT OUR MERCH: https://www.redbubble.com/people/blin... ***FYI- This is a non-profit fan film made purely for fun.*** (NOTE- For those of you who don't know anything about Spider-Man, this is a short film about Mary Jane Watson, not the "Michelle" character portrayed by Zendaya who is nicknamed MJ. They are two distinct characters.) After being sent to Hollywood to cover Fashion Week for the Daily Bugle, Peter Parker fatefully crosses paths with none other than Mary Jane Watson. And after immediately being smitten with her, Peter asks Mary Jane out on a date. But when trouble arises in La La Land, Spider-Man is forced to choose between protecting the innocent, or having a night on the town with the girl of his dreams. A WORD FROM CHRIS After watching Spider-Man : Homecoming, I knew immediately I wanted to finally tackle a Spider-Man story. But my goal with this short was to introduce my take on an MCU-style Mary Jane. As much as I respect the original trilogy, I never liked the idea of MJ literally being the girl next door. Especially since it's a lot more humorous knowing how many years Aunt May tried setting Peter up with her, only for Peter to make up an excuse not to. The irony of knowing how many missed opportunities Peter had to meet MJ is so rich, so I wanted to touch upon that in this short. My take on MJ was pretty straight forward, a bright eyed, wannabe actress/model. As for Peter, I wanted to stay as close to a potential Homecoming followup story as I could possibly make. In all honesty, the only reason why this story was set in LA is strictly due to my location. Had I still been living on the east coast, I totally would've set this in NYC. But, in many ways, I think setting this in Hollywood works a lot more, and justifies MJ's revelation. We shot over the course of three days in Los Angeles and Hollywood. For the most part, the shoot was really fun and effortless.
