Building a remote control unit with Bluetooth
This is part 2 of my video about my experiments with remote control by using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) modules. This video covers the implementation in a joystick shield to remote control a small fischertechnik vehicle. The ArduinoBlue app on the smartphone will connect to the Bluetooth module in the model with factory settings right away. By using the ArduinoBlue function library in the Sketch for the controllable model, it can be controlled quite easily with ArduinoBlue from an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. The physical joystick control (with a joystick shield) is made compatible with this, and it takes over the role of smartphone or tablet . The controls are interchangeable and the model can be controlled in two completely different ways. SWITCH PINS 0 and 1 (the video is NOT correct!!!) I got TX and RX mixed up! :-( Please check the wiring diagram on the website. The (output) TxD of the Bluetooth module connects to pin 0 (RxD input) of the Arduino, and the (input) RxD of the Bluetooth module connects to pin 1 (TxD output) of the Arduino (optionally via a level-shifter). Depending on the module (check the datasheet!) It may also be wise to feed the module at 3.3 volts instead of 5 volts.
