In 2178, Earth had become too dangerous for humans to live on. Until they could return, the stars would be their new home. Humans adjusted nicely to their new environment, but, over time, ships began to break down and couldn't sustain flight for long. In a last ditch effort, humans went into cryo and sent their ships into a random direction, hoping to find a new home. It is unknown if any had made it to a planet or even of those ships still exist.
