Reston National's Owners Found a 1966 Loophole. Will It Work This Time?

Reston National Golf Course is back in the news, and the story is more complicated than it looks on the surface. The owners have been pushing to redevelop the property for years, and this week they surfaced a new strategy: invoking zoning decisions from 1966 to justify building 288 townhomes on two clusters of land near Colts Neck Road. They're also floating a more aggressive Option B that would shrink the course to nine holes and open up a larger portion for development. Graham and Kathy dig into why the owners have always faced an uphill financial battle, what the two proposed plans would actually look like on the ground, and why Walter Alcorn, the Hunter Mill District supervisor, says he won't support any change without community consensus. Also in this episode: Governor Abigail Spanberger vetoed the Fairfax County casino legislation that passed both chambers of the Virginia legislature, and Graham and Kathy weigh in on what that means for Northern Virginia. Plus, a full rundown of what's happening in Reston this April, including the All Abilities Block Party at Lake Anne, Celebrate Reston on April 18th, and the Earth Day Chalk Fest at Reston Town Center on April 25th. ******************** If you are moving to Reston, Herndon, or anywhere in Northern Virginia, this channel is for you.
