Hurricane Prep | How to Install Plywood Guards for Doors & Windows in 10 Minutes | Fasteners 101

In this segment of Fasteners 101, our Fastener Expert demonstrates how to temporarily cover your windows and doors with 3/4" plywood in preparation for a hurricane or storm. Using readily available common products, bob installs plywood using concrete masonry anchors and deck screws over a door for temporary protection from the elements. CAUTION: We recommend reviewing your local building code and complying with all local requirements. The recommendations in this video are for temporary, emergency protection in situations where you need to "make it work" with resources that are on hand or easily available. This solution would work for doors, windows, or any area of the home that you need to protect. This is a solution where hurricane shutters are not available, or not already installed, and time is of the essence.
