Finding the Perfect Microclimate for Japanese Maples in Zone 4

Do Japanese maples really stand a chance in a Zone 4 garden? In this video, I share the 7 Japanese maples I recently added to my garden and take you through my thought process as I decide where to plant each one. Rather than simply putting them in the ground and hoping for the best, I look at sun exposure, wind protection, snow cover, soil conditions, and the unique microclimates that exist throughout my property. Some of these maples are considered relatively hardy, while others are pushing the limits of what is possible in my climate.
