IEA Bioenergy webinar: Treating & valorizing the aqueous phase from hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL)
Hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) is becoming more and more popular as a process to efficiently valorize bio-based feedstocks, even those with a high moisture content. Besides biocrude, which represents the energy-dense product to be utilized in fuel production, relevant amounts of aqueous phase are produced, which need to be properly treated and valorized. This webinar presented some of the most advanced approaches to aqueous phase treatment, which is a crucial point for the development of HTL to a commercial scale.
