More on Where Confession is in the Bible | Fr. Chris Alar, MIC

In today's homily, Fr. Chris Alar, reflected on the healing of the leper as a powerful image of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Just as leprosy separated a person from the religious life of Israel, mortal sin separates us from full communion with God and His Church. Christ, the Divine Physician, desires to heal every soul, but He established that this healing would come through His priests, who act in His name. In Confession, the priest not only hears our sins but declares God's mercy and absolution, while assigning a penance suited to help repair the damage caused by sin and foster true conversion. Fr. Chris reminded us that sin, when left hidden, continues to grow in the darkness, but when it is humbly confessed, it is washed away by the infinite mercy of God. The confessional is not a tribunal of condemnation but a tribunal of mercy, where no sinner is beyond the reach of God's love. No matter how great our sins may be, sincere repentance opens the door to complete forgiveness, proving that God's merciful love is always greater than our greatest failures.
